Schools
During a typical week in the Autumn and Spring terms, between us, we work with 400-500 children across several different schools.
We currently use the summer term to offer one-off workshops for Key Stage 2 pupils in schools on broader topics linked to RE curriculum such as ‘What matters most to humanists and Christians?’, ‘How does faith help people when life gets hard?’ and ‘How and why do people try to make the world a better place?
As part of these sessions, pupils have the opportunity to ‘grill a Christian!’ - asking anything that they want to about Christianity. Their questions are fabulous and thought provoking.
When possible, we co-teach these sessions with another member of the ICE Torbay schools team as it allows for a breadth of discussion.
We also get a lot of very encouraging feedback from children, teachers, RE Coordinators and Headteachers from both faith and community schools.
The Summer term is also an opportunity to liaise with schools, respond to requests for new input and plan the next year’s work, whilst also developing new projects linked to our objectives.
